Since I put the Setup EXE into a ZIP, download and Setup went absolutetely without problems during my own tests. I whould really appreciate some feedback from users if there is anything I can improve. As I can only test on my german System, I´d like to know if there are any issues in other languages and counties. Kind regards from Oldenburg in Germany ... Siegfried

Thanks for MkvBatcher, Siegfried!
The first issue I ran into was that I couldn't specify what folder to install MkvBatcher into (the installer assistant only allowed me to specify a disk, not a folder).
But a FAR more serious issue is that every time I try to launch your app, I get a popup error window telling me it could not find HandBrake CLI, and then it exits. I have HandBrake CLI on my system, but apparently it's not located where MkvBatcher expects it to be.
Where does your app expect HandBrake CLI to be stored?
Thanks!

Hi Marty, HandBrakeCLI is put here during installation: MkvBatcher\Apps\HandBrakeCLI\HandBrakeCLI_32.exe
When MkvBatcher is first started, HandBrakeCLI_32.exe is copied to temp and started there.
If you used the installer and nothing was blocked by a firewall/antyvirus during installation, everything should be in the right place.

Hallo Siegfried,
thanks for all your work. Is is much appreciated.
I am planning the following project: I have lots of DVD backup files stored in video_ts format which I want to convert as quick and as easy as possible to MKV. I want to get rid of all the DVD menus and bonus stuff while keeping all existing audio tracks and subtitles. The folder structure goes like this: Backup-Folder / TopGun_Cruise_1985 / video_ts (which includes files complete DVD structure with vob etc.) So basically every video_ts folder with all the DVD files is properly in a separate folder which is named as the specific movie.
I understand the Details-section of mkvbatcher.com and have a few questions:
-Can I batch convert the whole Backup-Folder at once without much hazzle and have as result a) all the MKV named as the specific movie (e.g. TopGun_Cruise_1985) or b) lots of folder with the specific movie titles and in it there is the MKV named as "video_ts" or c) does it not work like this at all?
-Regarding audio track and subtitles I want to keep ALL existing audio tracks and subtitles. Is this possible? If not: Can I keep just german as main language AND english as second language (audio tracks AND subtitles)?
-How long will the conversion process take with MkvBatcher? I have a very fast windows laptop...
Best regards and thanks in advane Peter

Hi Peter,
regarding the output-structure:
Output mode "match source folder structure" will give you: Backup-Folder/TopGun_Cruise_1985/TopGun_Cruise_1985.mkv (a folder per movie with an MKV instead of the TS-folder. JPGs and XMLs will also be copied.)
Output mode "all in one folder" will give you: Backup-Folder/TopGun_Cruise_1985.mkv (all resulting MKVs are in one folder)
Regarding the audio tracks: Only one track is possible (selected main language). Subtitles will only be used, if no audio track in the main language is available.
I suggest you try with a couple movies before you drag your whole backup folder on to the batch list! Processing time for one DVD is about 5 minutes with an I7 processor.
Regards Siegfried

Hi Siegfried,
thanks very much for your fast response.
The output-structure is perfect, and also the quickness of processing.
The only thing which is not ideal is the audio tracks. Having at least english and german audio tracks and subtitles is essential for me. Any chance that you implement such a function (e.g. keeping all audio and all subtitles) in the next few months? If not... Is there any batch alternative that handles the output-structure as properly as you do plus that keeps all audio and all subtitles? (I hope you don't mind that I'm asking that but it would mean a lot to me to find a good solution.)
Thanks so much Peter

Hi Peter, at this stage there are no plans to add the audio handling you want to MkvBatcher.
Please try the original Handbrake. It lets you select the options you want and also has a batch function.
Kind regards Siegfried

Hello - I have this too, on a reasonably unencumbered Windows 10 machine. Nothing in the Apps directory, and no way to just chuck in the Handbrake CLI app where it seems to want it because the handbrake.fr site will only download the 64 bit version on a 64 bit machine (you seem to want a 32 bit one) Any ideas? Shame, as it looks like a handy app if I could get it to load Regards David

Actually, on a different, newly refreshed Windows 10, it does pull the files including two versions of the Handbrake CLI, but proceeds to spin the Windows wheel briefly when starting and then just do nothing
Same in Windows 7 emulation mode with admin permissions

Davidm, It looks like your antivirus/firewall blocks it. I run it on Win10 with no issues.
